<br />
First off, in my last post I teased some Felici that I was getting for Christmas so here's an actual picture of the lovelies. Hehe<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiBUwgPnD7JdSUIEHefNg9SEn8i_nxmDTp4GtDY-TmCe4RWVxQsRzsWETnebIQfj3llvBIrIC_VzK2Xo3Y5fi8O5tZRuNlPQjlnQrtk7TNjB9ymzErtr6QrTamtiSPqbz8s2tAYET2PRrW/s1600/20191226_211910.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiBUwgPnD7JdSUIEHefNg9SEn8i_nxmDTp4GtDY-TmCe4RWVxQsRzsWETnebIQfj3llvBIrIC_VzK2Xo3Y5fi8O5tZRuNlPQjlnQrtk7TNjB9ymzErtr6QrTamtiSPqbz8s2tAYET2PRrW/s320/20191226_211910.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<span id="goog_1443525545"></span><span id="goog_1443525546"></span><br />
The purple ones on the bottom are skeins that I already had, but now they can all be friends together. :)<br />
<br />
I also bought this beautiful skein of sock yarn back in the winter with a gift card that <a href="https://woolandhoney.com/">Wool and Honey</a> gave out for Christmas. So generous!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaNmpAsXj-fWtk3pysn5kG9Y6TjIi22fkacTkdZ5qlLiO27AbNta-M02AZpFOifmNYkCNrgdHk9TyB-xD2uDeMMfmitjKll3drbIxRn5MO9xgXSbNAPFAg7Ick5g00B7PFzCDkCTIPT-2n/s1600/20200110_172009.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaNmpAsXj-fWtk3pysn5kG9Y6TjIi22fkacTkdZ5qlLiO27AbNta-M02AZpFOifmNYkCNrgdHk9TyB-xD2uDeMMfmitjKll3drbIxRn5MO9xgXSbNAPFAg7Ick5g00B7PFzCDkCTIPT-2n/s320/20200110_172009.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
And I bought some yarn from <a href="http://www.lmrknittery.com/">the shop</a> that used to be in our town to make mittens for a friend. The owner Kelly sent a lovely note along with the yarn. ❤<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC2WwBILUmK9euOoaAUgyqAabV-ygGRpJWykplDdTLnx9HQhHQj931s5tb12PPzcfuRxsfBxQawDq1RG4s-8eLGGF3mYOdRF705PgncQC1mtY3gMGE-AVEJaJv0BODCeB56zs8TGyAZHM9/s1600/20200115_131516.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC2WwBILUmK9euOoaAUgyqAabV-ygGRpJWykplDdTLnx9HQhHQj931s5tb12PPzcfuRxsfBxQawDq1RG4s-8eLGGF3mYOdRF705PgncQC1mtY3gMGE-AVEJaJv0BODCeB56zs8TGyAZHM9/s320/20200115_131516.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPrZl5Wnu_mATWsiNjA6uGFj1JjuCZbC6C9rJhIjRXkHWToajkhFPHuHLUIB-3kEWoGZEjc5t-VmzEtRAnMTtuM8lonGYRmcsm3pNBLYjKYOTuLlOHCoFpkiWBiq0rkUI9NruPMCqkAIWc/s1600/20200115_130149.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPrZl5Wnu_mATWsiNjA6uGFj1JjuCZbC6C9rJhIjRXkHWToajkhFPHuHLUIB-3kEWoGZEjc5t-VmzEtRAnMTtuM8lonGYRmcsm3pNBLYjKYOTuLlOHCoFpkiWBiq0rkUI9NruPMCqkAIWc/s320/20200115_130149.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
And I haven't bought any yarn since then, even with all of my recent internet purchases, and I think you should all be proud of me. I did get some from my sister and a lovely raveler gifted me some to finish a project, but we all know that<i> those don't count. </i>I did buy some new needles though, which I still haven't tried out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn7amN9F84yJJy3jjEvf1qmiCKyBpuq2lrPA52nEamd2A6fcPal8rtVs08jvNV27O7FA701jghtZZ3jyKvnQto-yGBkzwwu_Qxr43FkJuZZXotlaORGz5YcNecWNgXIfcLpvqWtD9bwQm0/s1600/15939836862089145410104661012497.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn7amN9F84yJJy3jjEvf1qmiCKyBpuq2lrPA52nEamd2A6fcPal8rtVs08jvNV27O7FA701jghtZZ3jyKvnQto-yGBkzwwu_Qxr43FkJuZZXotlaORGz5YcNecWNgXIfcLpvqWtD9bwQm0/s320/15939836862089145410104661012497.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
It's a short sharp needle set from <a href="https://www.knitdenise.com/collections/knitting/products/denise2go-for-knitting-sharp-short-tips#shopify-product-reviews">Denise</a> and I also got a few extra cords. I love my interchangeable needles from Denise and I've been using them for almost 10 years now! I'm excited to try these out. I've been too busy working on other things so far.<br />
<br />
I also got all my stash out one Saturday afternoon...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBifbRcbEEjxPFxBv6ThyA8BvIT3vliK7Ktwg3CXGyQ2-MSrVD38YNSgX8SXTi7WPWsvvbCbtf3shn0pjWpOzhJkHtGRfQXx4F2PSeFv3ugmiwTpJxJtdP0hcHfcdbkWRdDdO7zr5hL2LD/s1600/20200516_161653.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBifbRcbEEjxPFxBv6ThyA8BvIT3vliK7Ktwg3CXGyQ2-MSrVD38YNSgX8SXTi7WPWsvvbCbtf3shn0pjWpOzhJkHtGRfQXx4F2PSeFv3ugmiwTpJxJtdP0hcHfcdbkWRdDdO7zr5hL2LD/s320/20200516_161653.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And as for the FOs and WIPs, we have the blanket I made for a friend's wedding gift to begin with...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsW-xU5k8JPKd2vSekK_zznKwgA4CWV4jqjqQZo6ZasUi7aMQkBnZB2bsee49VkxsvAVLm2yfc8DNAKeIFmQfikQPuxlghdsuHK-f3Fu84Jbnk9oqLi0AcrfY-KK1tC0wcDkG-6QkJgGrU/s1600/20200116_192113.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsW-xU5k8JPKd2vSekK_zznKwgA4CWV4jqjqQZo6ZasUi7aMQkBnZB2bsee49VkxsvAVLm2yfc8DNAKeIFmQfikQPuxlghdsuHK-f3Fu84Jbnk9oqLi0AcrfY-KK1tC0wcDkG-6QkJgGrU/s320/20200116_192113.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
And then there's my mohair top. I made this one up as I went and I'm super happy with how it turned out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKj9gdzRKTKveWhD-iZHvH0qNSIs64griNl0lrddGzYF-bOa7iDR17u61m_2gpaMbyoH7T9MVuww1gtTxwhNuMMrNJxOOCvWG8dRCMaPNCSs90H0kYXERYk_bY84rzm4d7Xz1DBGSpwE-b/s1600/20200510_093222.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKj9gdzRKTKveWhD-iZHvH0qNSIs64griNl0lrddGzYF-bOa7iDR17u61m_2gpaMbyoH7T9MVuww1gtTxwhNuMMrNJxOOCvWG8dRCMaPNCSs90H0kYXERYk_bY84rzm4d7Xz1DBGSpwE-b/s320/20200510_093222.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I whipped up this hat and mittens for some friends who are having a baby.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-8UvlOCUvWfpZmsklM77eLYm7MmzycWHm9p4oOZqWyda9f9BjNEJ4id6NMLiXVGS38bh32yDDcxm_j7vmfiZFSrER_7tZYh1UjliAGaQw21rXJIr0YDlAoGYDXa-I2HtmyamPOB3stOc6/s1600/20200608_232833.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-8UvlOCUvWfpZmsklM77eLYm7MmzycWHm9p4oOZqWyda9f9BjNEJ4id6NMLiXVGS38bh32yDDcxm_j7vmfiZFSrER_7tZYh1UjliAGaQw21rXJIr0YDlAoGYDXa-I2HtmyamPOB3stOc6/s320/20200608_232833.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
And the mittens I made for another friend...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivbXwzGOw8WIDMLohS1Zr3BhH7qxW4vo-k3w2aRSz_3GbtC5AycfzHhC_gS_dnq4VYfTnO7x-c-sXYaIF5ZPNTnJWRXLgG2dMLahNfmzOst-ndUUhHgNMItfjthlNAiaR6sxfYavWqxU-u/s1600/20200609_115954.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivbXwzGOw8WIDMLohS1Zr3BhH7qxW4vo-k3w2aRSz_3GbtC5AycfzHhC_gS_dnq4VYfTnO7x-c-sXYaIF5ZPNTnJWRXLgG2dMLahNfmzOst-ndUUhHgNMItfjthlNAiaR6sxfYavWqxU-u/s320/20200609_115954.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
And then I finally knit my little sister a sweater. I got the yarn for this about three years ago and it took a pandemic to get to it haha. But my sister has grown in those years, and she said this way it will fit her much longer. So it's a win-win!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR0YVBgjQZGWxxtvIbFqqazFZKOVNgodogKb0JW5UxrzKftI8RIYeyAzwX6Br9ABBciPOJugma1htBecg1fW8JKGhhh561mUFQ9R6EzHP1q9oNVqofJt_A-XyrW7WBO7qorQiV7nxC9ETU/s1600/20200602_093350.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR0YVBgjQZGWxxtvIbFqqazFZKOVNgodogKb0JW5UxrzKftI8RIYeyAzwX6Br9ABBciPOJugma1htBecg1fW8JKGhhh561mUFQ9R6EzHP1q9oNVqofJt_A-XyrW7WBO7qorQiV7nxC9ETU/s320/20200602_093350.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOzxb5FDqvU7Tszsfn1BkbsBsR6K5aUP5o9neEHVyNRcq3tX2bph8xOrc3ru-SYF6CaxhVhWZpbFyfILKLwtimR2gr-QJX9OaJII_PGji_U7NopwjMfZ4-MK_4sTH3-TfIyF1O2-LIZwg0/s1600/20200602_093940.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOzxb5FDqvU7Tszsfn1BkbsBsR6K5aUP5o9neEHVyNRcq3tX2bph8xOrc3ru-SYF6CaxhVhWZpbFyfILKLwtimR2gr-QJX9OaJII_PGji_U7NopwjMfZ4-MK_4sTH3-TfIyF1O2-LIZwg0/s320/20200602_093940.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
And I have one WIP right now. I'm knitting a fraternal twin for this green sock I made a couple years ago. I decided to make it in honor of my little sister Lottie whom we lost at 10 weeks almost three years ago. Something about the green and purple seems to fit her. We call her Our Little Leprechaun so that might be part of it. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhME9LiGYUfXvMjvwwQJi2Xgt59Ib8egCHyVIxFUu7VjPZn5H3eRN0E9l7XIhWy-h6ukOi_nk_WMuvGrR4BdQvqI7-8zlpc0-sdVXFMKJSd06p6u5QEVX5il_5pwKpKOUVYL5Ks8RuY1sk3/s1600/IMG_20200704_023020_734.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1326" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhME9LiGYUfXvMjvwwQJi2Xgt59Ib8egCHyVIxFUu7VjPZn5H3eRN0E9l7XIhWy-h6ukOi_nk_WMuvGrR4BdQvqI7-8zlpc0-sdVXFMKJSd06p6u5QEVX5il_5pwKpKOUVYL5Ks8RuY1sk3/s320/IMG_20200704_023020_734.jpg" width="260" /></a></div>
<br />
This pattern, <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/garden-gate-3">Garden Gate</a> (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!), is so much fun!! I'll probably make more socks from it. And the Knit Picks Hawthorne I'm using isn't too shabby either, haha!Rebekah Evelynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16492919722494190261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6515881157340299905.post-50044921649513801422019-11-26T18:06:00.002-06:002021-01-27T17:52:33.729-06:00Knitty NovemberAs per usual, I have a few FOs to catch the old blog up on. 😉 But I'll start us off with something a little different. My recent yarn haul from Knit Picks' Big Sale:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioGz2HMxjrCmOGi_DMGXe2B2h_ZN37q6hkCYaVyVexe37NgFxr1bwvpB0zoN6WpNvMJwtld04qZ76J98BQGPPCZe7hk-m81PFaDvjwa4E6cZoRnROTau0OAxATdyyFuN1OkiWbfE9ttrom/s1600/20191106_134842.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioGz2HMxjrCmOGi_DMGXe2B2h_ZN37q6hkCYaVyVexe37NgFxr1bwvpB0zoN6WpNvMJwtld04qZ76J98BQGPPCZe7hk-m81PFaDvjwa4E6cZoRnROTau0OAxATdyyFuN1OkiWbfE9ttrom/s320/20191106_134842.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
15 skeins of Biggo for a wedding blanket, a skein of Hawthorne Multi to make a fraternal twin for my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/projects/RebekahEvelyn/garden-gate">lonely Garden Gate sock</a> (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!), and then I got a free stitch marker with my order, and I picked out the succulent one. I don't typically use dangling stitch markers, but it was cute and free, so why not.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirO5DxHuD0ozFKf_KrbfwmR9_rOvnBmKMEJZALPm0txK4iW_UMmj5ruM4EsSduODPh9kZ2XxGqXBIr5gacZjVYnoHQSNmPambsUvDntApD6Eq2tE6s1vQofu4PQhLXa0cGAsFCozFvWCFy/s1600/IMG_20191126_164808_847.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirO5DxHuD0ozFKf_KrbfwmR9_rOvnBmKMEJZALPm0txK4iW_UMmj5ruM4EsSduODPh9kZ2XxGqXBIr5gacZjVYnoHQSNmPambsUvDntApD6Eq2tE6s1vQofu4PQhLXa0cGAsFCozFvWCFy/s320/IMG_20191126_164808_847.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
My sister and I ordered more from the Big Sale, but it's part of our Christmas gift from our grandparents so we can't open it. Mine is 9 skeins of Felici, plus the free Felici they're giving with a $75 purchase. One skein is mine and the other is my sister's. They're here. In my house. And I want to squish them and drool over the stripe-y colors.<br />
<br />
I'm planning on a <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sock-arms">Sock Arms</a> sweater (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) with the Raspberry Beret I ordered though I have to pick out the main color still. And then I'm going to make my sister something out of the Hamburger. I picked out two other colors, but I don't have plans for them yet. But that's what Christmas yarn is for, right?<span id="goog_54227097"></span><br />
<br />
I also ordered from Knit Picks' summer (spring?) yarn and book sale, using my tax refund like the adult I am. (I'm kidding, I used the rest of it for a LEGO set.) I bought Palette for my sister's Fightin' Words mitts, some Snuggle Puff to try, a couple skeins of Billow, a Jane Austen project bag, Gudrun Johnson's <i>Knit With Me </i>book,<i> </i>and a needle promo kit. Which I totally forgot I had and need to try still.<br />

<br />
There was also the mohair and extras I bought from <a href="http://www.tanisfiberarts.com/">Tanis Fiber Arts</a> in the spring.<br />
<br />

<br />
I started a striped top in the summer with the mohair (bottom skein) and the Blue Label (top skein), but it's on hold at the moment. I don't have plans for the middle skein beyond Aqua! Speckles! Important plans, clearly.<br />
<br />
A picture of the top-in-progress...<br />
<br />

<br />
I'm just making it up as I go along, which is kinda risky since mohair is known for being hard to frog, but we'll see. I would've doubled the mohair with the fingering but I only have one skein of each. I'm knitting top down and I finished the neckline after joining for the sleeves and I plan to tackle the armhole edgings when I pick it up again. It'll be a while though, I'm sure.<br />
<br />
Now for the FOs! First of all, some classic baby socks! Man, I love making baby socks. These were for the baby of some friends of mine. I got to know them both while they were dating, went to their wedding, and now they have a kid! I feel so old. He is freaking adorable though.<br />
<br />

<br />
The yarn was a self striping one with pink and purple as well, but I cut those out since they knew he'd be a boy. I'm not sure I care about it, but I didn't think they'd want pink socks. :)<br />
<br />
I also made some socks out of yarn one of my siblings spun for me. I like wearing them over other socks like slippers. Still haven't woven in the ends. Haha<br />
<br />

<br />
I started a hat in April that I almost finished, but it was too tight so I ripped it out and it took me a while to get back to it. I finished it recently, just in time for the cold weather. I'm definitely into the anchor motif so I loved designing, knitting, and now love wearing it!<br />

After years of promising my sister I'd make her <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fightin-words">Fightin' Words</a> mitts (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) I finally kept my word.<br />
<br />

<br />
(Modeled by our little brother who picked them up randomly and let me snap a few shots.)<br />
<br />
And last of all, my current WIP, a <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cobblestone-throw">Cobblestone Throw</a> (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) as a wedding gift for one of my close friends. She picked the pattern and the general color, but I'm loving the more mindless knitting and the color is not one I'd choose myself, but it's lovely. 3+ out of 15 skeins in...<br />

I finished just a little while later, but I recently got some new pictures of it. He wore it almost nonstop for a week or two in March.<br />

<br />
I also finished my Ravellenics sweater in time. In time means I was knitting and seaming into the wee hours of the night and I did wear it to church several hours later before the inside of the pockets were dry, but the gold medal was worth it! :D<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
My next project was many months later, in the summer. Some friends of mine were having a baby (how am I old enough to say that?) and I wanted to knit socks for him.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://images4-e.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/536329340/20180723_000436_medium2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="384" height="320" src="https://images4-e.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/536329340/20180723_000436_medium2.jpg" width="192" /></a></div>
<br />
Baby socks are one of my favorite projects. They're so quick and so, so cute!!<br />
<br />
Then I knit some socks of my own in some beautiful <a href="https://www.tanisfiberarts.com/">TFA yarn</a>. And one of my favorite sock patterns, <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/skew">Skew</a>. (Link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://images4-b.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/618811522/20190410_141325_medium2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="384" height="320" src="https://images4-b.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/618811522/20190410_141325_medium2.jpg" width="192" /></a></div>
<span id="goog_1991140803"></span><span id="goog_1991140804"></span><br />
Sometime during the summer I was itching to knit, but I got overwhelmed thinking about choosing a project and swatching and all that. So I pulled out some of my squishiest yarn and cast on for some 1x1 rib. It grew into a scarf of a sort, but it was pretty skinny and I wasn't sure I wanted to keep it. Earlier this winter I frogged it and knit a wider garter stitch scarf instead, but not with a project in mind really.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu0wtUKatv6wEE8VQwTHdAsvfVLeciUi2JyrQBJlyTwiZtnABpqw-RWOgT6cjZonXM2CdC58yhnEhDLb19cvE0HtggRiV4OcSxQ4S9sZBwNfCyG-E9g0JHjAztytdauBY7eANMwpVPa82e/s1600/20190410_104350.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu0wtUKatv6wEE8VQwTHdAsvfVLeciUi2JyrQBJlyTwiZtnABpqw-RWOgT6cjZonXM2CdC58yhnEhDLb19cvE0HtggRiV4OcSxQ4S9sZBwNfCyG-E9g0JHjAztytdauBY7eANMwpVPa82e/s320/20190410_104350.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I actually knit most of it while watching Confessions of a Shopaholic where "The Girl in the Green Scarf" plays an important role, and I seriously didn't make the connection that I was knitting my own green scarf until after the movie was over. Such irony. I'm not sure if I'll keep it. I might frog it later so I can make a bigger project with the yarn I have leftover.<br />
<br />
I also knit a hat in this yarn. My grandma asked me around Thanksgiving if I could knit her a hat for Christmas. I whipped this up just a day or two later, but saved it for Christmas of course.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://images4-e.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/588856389/IMG_0175_medium2.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="409" data-original-width="640" height="204" src="https://images4-e.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/588856389/IMG_0175_medium2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
That honeycomb stitch is so delectable!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://images4-e.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/588856387/IMG_0179_medium2.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="391" data-original-width="640" height="195" src="https://images4-e.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/588856387/IMG_0179_medium2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Speaking of Christmas, I also made this alpaca scarf for my best friend.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://images4-b.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/583466250/20181120_094816_medium2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://images4-b.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/583466250/20181120_094816_medium2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
And in terms of presents for myself, I got some Felici. During Christmas break, my brother spun me yarn out of some fiber I won a few years ago. And last winter I bought some Guardians of the Galaxy-inspired sock yarn with leftover Christmas money.<br />
<br />

<br />
First off, one sock! I won this yarn in a giveaway and thought it was a whole skein, but didn't think to weigh it before knitting. Turns out it was a half skein. I'm hoping to make a fraternal twin for this because I really like this sock pattern: <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/garden-gate-3">Garden Gate</a>. (Link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://images4-e.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/447548374/IMG_20170512_211650_901_medium2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="512" height="320" src="https://images4-e.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/447548374/IMG_20170512_211650_901_medium2.jpg" width="256" /></a></div>
<br />
A group of Ravelers knit squares for a blanket for Elena Nodel last spring. Sadly, the blanket wasn't finished until after Elena passed, but it was given to her husband and daughter. This was my square.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://images4-e.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/449885848/20170526_115451_medium2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="384" height="320" src="https://images4-e.ravelrycache.com/uploads/RebekahEvelyn/449885848/20170526_115451_medium2.jpg" width="192" /></a></div>
<br />
The motifs are snowflakes to represent my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/midnight-fog">Midnight Fog</a> hat (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) that Elena gave me yarn support for. I still have quite a bit of yarn leftover from both projects she sponsored. I treasure it so much and look forward to knitting with it. I did not know Elena very well, but she touched my heart in a special way and I still think of her every so often.<br />
<br />
Also last spring, I posted some WIP pictures of a top I was making for Shannon Cook's annual tops, tees, and tanks KAL. I never blocked it and had decided to frog it eventually when I randomly put it on this afternoon, snapped a few selfies, and haven't taken it off yet. I think it might just stay an FO.<br />

A hat made from my Cubs sweater leftovers and inspired by the greatest bromance in history. Kris Bryant + Anthony Rizzo = Bryzzo (They're Cubs baseball players. :) ) I got to wear the hat and sweater to a game last May!!<br />

<br />
I finished my little blue cabled shawl too, but I haven't blocked it and no pictures either. Now it's keeping company with the dark green shawl I knit in the fall of 2016 and never blocked or photographed. #procrastinatorforlife<br />
<br />
The last FO is a pair of fingerless mitts for one of my friends. She's a writer and she loves purple. And mitts. She sent me this fun action shot.<br />

Not really a big break, but I would <i>like</i> to be knitting so it kind of stinks. :(<br />
<br />
I've been working on a sweater for my little brother. The plan was to finish it before the Ravellenic Games start in less than a week. I think I've still got a chance...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH2BTYBn6nwygDilCYgy5tHFNJurEzSdZT6RSVkR0F-E31vXNWnbMZheuM65Stl6l6hqKaUG8hEd645DM6mD-TiXwGVeQqQEjEG6iyiQC9T-h4D2cXz7vHnc5nAyxMGuNKY-C8c2ByBjM0/s1600/Screenshot_2018-02-02-14-21-20.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH2BTYBn6nwygDilCYgy5tHFNJurEzSdZT6RSVkR0F-E31vXNWnbMZheuM65Stl6l6hqKaUG8hEd645DM6mD-TiXwGVeQqQEjEG6iyiQC9T-h4D2cXz7vHnc5nAyxMGuNKY-C8c2ByBjM0/s320/Screenshot_2018-02-02-14-21-20.png" width="192" /></a></div>
<br />
(A progress pic straight from my Insta story. That's as good as it's going to get right now.)<br />
<br />
So you can kind of see the sweater here. It's a heavily-modified <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/abate">Abate</a> by Alicia Plummer. (Link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) I'm using chunkier yarn, so a larger gauge, and I've really switched up the neck; going for a plain crewneck to save yarn. I'm not sure my brother would like a big cowl/collar anyway. Especially one so thick with this bulky yarn.<br />
<br />
It's still knit top-down and I'm doing the sleeves first now that I've knit a few rows past splitting for them, because I'm not sure how much yarn I have. I bought it over four years ago and my brother's grown quite a bit since then, haha!<br />
<br />
Speaking of the Ravellenics, I'm going for a chunky cabled cardigan for me. <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/aidez">Aidez</a>!! (Link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) This could be crazy, but I'm going to try. I've had the yarn for a while and kept <i>meaning</i> to start it, so this is a good kick in the pants for me. Plus, I'm one of the captains for Team Knit Picks Lovers!! And since I've never been a captain before, I get this shiny laurel:<br />

I decided to update my Ravelry bio, and thought I'd share some of it here too. I put a short little blurb about myself at the top and then the long story, if anyone has the courage to brave through it. Welcome to the long of it...<br />
<br />
I learned to crochet at seven or eight, taking lessons with my two older brothers from a lady who went to our church. My grandma had been crocheting baby blankets for my siblings ever since I could remember, so the craft was fairly familiar to me. I enjoyed crocheting a lot and for my ninth birthday my grandparents bought me some yarn and a book called <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/knitted-babes-five-dolls--their-wardrobes-to-knit--stitch">Knitted Babes</a>. (Link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) I had seen a book for crocheted dolls once, but they couldn’t find it and thought this one was the next best thing. And am I glad they did! I saw the dolls and knew I had to learn how to knit so I could make them.<br />
<br />
At nine and a half, I mastered the knit stitch and a few months later I had purling down too. My first real project was a Knitted Babes doll, not something normal like a scarf. And though I had some issues and put the project in time-out for a few weeks, I found a way, finished the doll, and I’ve been knitting ever since. Over half my life by now!!<br />
<br />
I spent my preteen years knitting and crocheting dolls and selling the occasional one to friends-and in rare situations, strangers. I also made multitudes of hats, scarves, mittens, and socks for my parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and great-grandparents every Christmas. There were a few shawls, baby blankets, throws, and sweaters in the mix, too.<br />
<br />
Ravelry introduced me to the world of independent designers and after months of research (i.e. reading through hundreds of helpful posts on the forums), I self-published my first pattern at fourteen.<br />
<br />
Since then, I’ve published several patterns, a few with the support of indie dyers and yarn companies, which were awesome experiences. I’ve also submitted work to various publications, though my proposals haven’t quite “fit the bill”…yet. I’m thankful to have had the experience, to be able to say, ”I’ve submitted to magazines!”, and to not be stymied (nerd alert!) by the “rejections”.<br />
<br />
I’ve really enjoyed sharing my work, seeing what others create with it, and being a part of the wonderful designers’ and knitters’ community here on Ravelry. I look forward to designing more in the future!<br />
<br />
But I do love the freedom of being able to decide when I want to design. Sometimes, I’d just rather work on personal projects, be it socks or a sweater or a gift for a friend. I think knitting should be fun, and I try to let it be that way for me as much as possible!Rebekah Evelynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16492919722494190261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6515881157340299905.post-53100603756678468792017-05-03T00:20:00.002-05:002021-01-27T18:01:14.684-06:00Knitting Thoughts Back in March, I picked up a shawl I started in September 2014, probably my oldest WIP ever. I knit several repeats, and I thought I'd share a recent-ish picture, though I've moved on to some other things...<br />

In the beginning of April I wove in the ends of my Cubs sweater so I could wear it on opening day. And I took a decent picture of it-well, my brother took it for me. I'm going to a night game at Wrigley in a few weeks and I'm really looking forward to wearing my sweater there!! I also have plans for a hat made from the leftovers, but I'm sure you'll hear about that soon enough. :)<br />

<br />
After hearing about <a href="http://www.veryshannon.com/blog/">Shannon Cook's</a> Tops, Tanks, and Tees Knit-a-long, I searched through my stash and library, looking to see if I could join in with anything. I landed on the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dowlas-tee">Dowlas Tee</a> (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) from the spring 2014 issue of Knitscene. I ripped out a vest I knit in Madelinetosh Pashmina a few years ago (that I never wore) and swatched, all in one day. I usually plan ahead more, but I'm happy with the spontaneity of this one. I have a few tops in my wardrobe that are a similar style, so I'm hoping I'll get a lot of use out of it. By now, I've split for the back and front. Here's an older picture.<br />
<br />

<br />
I know it's springtime and summer is just around the corner, but I've actually worn my sweaters more these past few days than I usually do. I'm terrible at wearing my knits in general, so I'm pretty proud of myself.<br />
<br />
First off, is my True sweater. I wore it on Sunday evening after a walk in the pouring rain. With pajamas and wool socks. :D<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjExxVUjMH2WTpPHijBHJzmXI15BTv9fH_hKt0EhR09W2ZUkUpZ7v5IPy6hQQOOTDviwyXa61atIrdf4ddbUp-15NYDEwgYZhVsTELBaDzL110sp9ksa6DW3iZXj_SVL5ISgghE76KN5cZM/s1600/IMG_20170501_115252_736.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjExxVUjMH2WTpPHijBHJzmXI15BTv9fH_hKt0EhR09W2ZUkUpZ7v5IPy6hQQOOTDviwyXa61atIrdf4ddbUp-15NYDEwgYZhVsTELBaDzL110sp9ksa6DW3iZXj_SVL5ISgghE76KN5cZM/s400/IMG_20170501_115252_736.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And today (or rather, yesterday, since I'm writing this late) I was out shopping with one of my best friends. I found a super cute dress, and when I came home, I looked through my closet to see what I could wear with it. I pulled out a lace-weight blue cardi I made a few years ago, and I've been wearing it with the dress for several hours now. Because I'm super excited about my dress, and I don't want to take it off. :)<br />

When I heard that she had cancer and was asking for financial help, I wanted to bless her in return. <br />
<br />
So I’m having a 20% off sale on all of <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/rebekah-evelyn">my patterns</a> (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) to raise money for Elena Nodel’s <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/elena-nodel-cancer-relief-fund">cancer relief fund</a>. The sale runs from April 22 to April 30 (Central Time) and all proceeds will be donated to Elena (everything after PayPal and any Ravelry fees).<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Whether you can help by buying my patterns, donating directly to her fund (follow the link above!), and/or upholding her and her family in your prayers, I'd really appreciate it, and I'm sure Elena would as well. Thank you!!</div>

It's been a while, but I always say that... And since it's been so long, I have a few finished projects to show you!<br />
<br />
The first is a pair of mittens I finished almost a year ago. They were a present for a friend and I didn't want to spoil the surprise. My friend Khyrstyn loves butterflies and as soon as I saw <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/underwing">Underwing</a> (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) from Twist Collective, I knew I had to make them for her. It took me a few years to buy the yarn and finish them, but I'm super happy with how they turned out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPIYAvD1nWv-f5PLENZ3ZrSq6PNWUw89UYyp6jGWnmk7tMCo0HJfj_1dgEdHOIKjCsnJbmZvbAkxB7qvn8Ic0KT_JMlHESszLxyMsJYkGJ1PzeOjRbDa99udtXzkajFdp0XLbmFcFqsSz_/s1600/img_7913_medium2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPIYAvD1nWv-f5PLENZ3ZrSq6PNWUw89UYyp6jGWnmk7tMCo0HJfj_1dgEdHOIKjCsnJbmZvbAkxB7qvn8Ic0KT_JMlHESszLxyMsJYkGJ1PzeOjRbDa99udtXzkajFdp0XLbmFcFqsSz_/s400/img_7913_medium2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I did finish the dark green shawl I mentioned last time, but I haven't blocked it or taken decent pictures yet.<br />
<br />
Now for some Christmas presents...<br />
<br />
A cabled hat for my lovely friend Mabs. She sent me a great picture of her wearing it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwbkPaqRa80acQIyy1MDyNk_cA0cdhAAvWWK5ySN6HMq1c9AFGdyOfdsvnJG7NZuQ1Elq8F53lGpxm4ujF1mpNflvKs5KdiDwtxLM-Lj18qP-rOOSJv0vgYnjS0VoGOfnu1D_POKJyRjLU/s1600/IMG_5971.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwbkPaqRa80acQIyy1MDyNk_cA0cdhAAvWWK5ySN6HMq1c9AFGdyOfdsvnJG7NZuQ1Elq8F53lGpxm4ujF1mpNflvKs5KdiDwtxLM-Lj18qP-rOOSJv0vgYnjS0VoGOfnu1D_POKJyRjLU/s400/IMG_5971.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
And a beret for my friend Sharyssa. Here's a terrible picture of me modeling it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiESr1ewV0z8LsOLOgg87nOxm9Uxlc829AUrVP4Hdq8bCE5ooDDPDXzDp8cKYY0NR5a6QETvcxc3yiqaroFPYMaUrFpxQ03JPKS2E7MzPkthLYzwonaAGx13oO86Nxddh4B96MMdvaelqpo/s1600/20161223_115722.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiESr1ewV0z8LsOLOgg87nOxm9Uxlc829AUrVP4Hdq8bCE5ooDDPDXzDp8cKYY0NR5a6QETvcxc3yiqaroFPYMaUrFpxQ03JPKS2E7MzPkthLYzwonaAGx13oO86Nxddh4B96MMdvaelqpo/s400/20161223_115722.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Now introducing my awesome Chicago Cubs sweater!!!! I finished it on the last day of 2016. I need to weave in the ends so I can wear it on opening day in a few weeks.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPNpyVWP2nqg1H-oq1MRj7LiFhSi2geObiXa1974YEf4Jed4UpuggHd3aQHjchWqH-mB9K2gw6YtTLgeXzL4K4EvCZpB7LW3AWIe6QZUjgfPuwx4IVXO9d4HHXzqHQAsl6QmIEI-hQI_SA/s1600/IMG_20161231_013816_141.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPNpyVWP2nqg1H-oq1MRj7LiFhSi2geObiXa1974YEf4Jed4UpuggHd3aQHjchWqH-mB9K2gw6YtTLgeXzL4K4EvCZpB7LW3AWIe6QZUjgfPuwx4IVXO9d4HHXzqHQAsl6QmIEI-hQI_SA/s320/IMG_20161231_013816_141.jpg" width="317" /></a></div>
<br />
And last of all, a pair of socks for my little brother. This project was part of Jenn Emerson's <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/jenn-emerson-designs/3554859/1-25">One Week Sock Challenge</a>. (Link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) I made it! Next time, I'm going to try socks for me. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I promised one of my friends that I would make her legwarmers back at the beginning of the year, or earlier. She's a dancer and it gets pretty cold in the studio. I started them a few weeks ago, and finished yesterday. She loves owls, so I added an owl cable on both sides.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9-QIjIWpXwS4ZOZf-us-fSJDRBGiDxAIw77xBjniFyNLHBDuafp2M5F31RZ0RCfiNU8TfNg6JYbpR6MWInO_t9MHx5ySDDNAAiWcK5Naij1-Tb9hld_bKFwWlYrpV3UWGFCjGvTSyrzcp/s1600/IMG_20161122_113542.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9-QIjIWpXwS4ZOZf-us-fSJDRBGiDxAIw77xBjniFyNLHBDuafp2M5F31RZ0RCfiNU8TfNg6JYbpR6MWInO_t9MHx5ySDDNAAiWcK5Naij1-Tb9hld_bKFwWlYrpV3UWGFCjGvTSyrzcp/s400/IMG_20161122_113542.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm working on a shawl right now. The pattern is <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bricks-9">Bricks</a> (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) by Justyna Lorkowska, a designer I really admire. She always has lovely patterns coming out. This is my first time knitting one of her patterns, but it probably won't be the last! (So cliche, I know.) She has a <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/letes-knits/3505488/1-25">knit-a-long</a> going on until November 30, which was my motivation for knitting this shawl. (Link goes to a Ravelry forum, which you need an account to see. Please exercise caution!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1lN-D6EbTMn84zSdeDKVxgAKri7zNrz43MbfZ5qWapoJ_s-Agi1ASe-AxOKu5Qtq5r5HPaD1pdT8eml0ifnuPYIVo-35gaKBKBQhWG__Dhvt26qojrv8I0xzM1mWotvZU2hR_Yc0NxuR6/s1600/IMG_20161122_134820.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1lN-D6EbTMn84zSdeDKVxgAKri7zNrz43MbfZ5qWapoJ_s-Agi1ASe-AxOKu5Qtq5r5HPaD1pdT8eml0ifnuPYIVo-35gaKBKBQhWG__Dhvt26qojrv8I0xzM1mWotvZU2hR_Yc0NxuR6/s400/IMG_20161122_134820.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm a bit in love with Instagram filters, and I adore how this photo looks... (Also, that snowflake blanket that my grandparents gave me last year...soo soft and cozy and in my favorite color. I didn't think I could love it any more. Then I discovered its beauty as a backdrop. *cue angelic music*)<br />
<br />
As for the second part of this post...the annual <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/groups/indie-design-gift-a-long">Indie Gift-A-Long</a> (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) is going on right now!!! I'm not participating as a designer this year, but I encourage you to check out all the lovely designers who are. <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/bundles/gift-a-long-2016-sale-patterns-2">Select patterns</a> (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) are 25% off until November 30 at 11:59pm (EST). I've really enjoyed the GAL the past few years, and I'm sure it will be just as fun this year, if not more. I'm planning on joining in with a <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/modern-tartan-slouch">Modern Tartan Slouch</a> (link leads to Ravelry, please exercise caution!) by Talitha Kuomi eventually. We'll see if I get any farther than that... :)Rebekah Evelynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16492919722494190261noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6515881157340299905.post-58114725166051923712016-10-31T22:38:00.001-05:002017-12-05T15:11:22.847-06:00Goodbye, October!!!I'm not ready to say goodbye, really. Time flies so fast! I haven't hit my twenties yet and it feels like every year goes by even faster than the one before! October was a great month for my knitting. I didn't knit much this summer, which I think left me nice and refreshed for a new fall knitting season. :)<br />
<br />
I finally wove in the ends to a sweater I knit back in March. It's my first "real" sweater, pullover, long-sleeved. I'm super proud of it and I can't wait to wear it all winter. It's still a bit warm for a worsted-weight sweater.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJQKN2EpuUy80Lr9pMb1Auj65PD4P3ufUwEnhr_CqPWclEzD9Ajs68hEkDG7kI05a0VAdXQhFEjFsvXLlWozStbavtA6WugTlg9qf-7jhR9hXlcgsOZk_EWYyrWDZmLCcl-sKOeKaKyR_4/s1600/IMG_20161013_141215.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJQKN2EpuUy80Lr9pMb1Auj65PD4P3ufUwEnhr_CqPWclEzD9Ajs68hEkDG7kI05a0VAdXQhFEjFsvXLlWozStbavtA6WugTlg9qf-7jhR9hXlcgsOZk_EWYyrWDZmLCcl-sKOeKaKyR_4/s400/IMG_20161013_141215.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Next up, I finally finished a hat for my sister. I knit one just like it for the Gift-A-Long 2014, and she modeled it for me. I told her I would make one for her. It's only taken two years...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgStn2mBd-BASUNZQajW3o2e7YoGbOhgQtQQFHMegjUtZc-lfnn2bYYuKKkAd5znAOa1j51EsJoFwrqXNV7MhYYeDcsBMUco_PEFxeVQAV1rkd2b6u5iP4m6-ceX_6oBOIG-dnCfYwrRihI/s1600/20161024_132424.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgStn2mBd-BASUNZQajW3o2e7YoGbOhgQtQQFHMegjUtZc-lfnn2bYYuKKkAd5znAOa1j51EsJoFwrqXNV7MhYYeDcsBMUco_PEFxeVQAV1rkd2b6u5iP4m6-ceX_6oBOIG-dnCfYwrRihI/s640/20161024_132424.jpg" width="384" /></a></div>
<br />
I've also been working on my Cubs sweater. We made it to the World Series for the first time in 71 years!! If we win the next two games, we'll be baseball champions for the first time in 108 years. Really hoping... This isn't the most recent progress, but here's a super flattering picture.<br />
<br />

But, mostly, I'm excited. Especially because this year October means a postseason for the Chicago Cubs!! I'm not really a sports person, except when it comes to the Cubs. I've been a fan my whole (albeit, short) life. I grew up listening to Pat Hughes and Ron Santo on the radio all summer long. My parents took me and my siblings to games at Wrigley Field every once in a while. I was so thrilled last year when we got to the postseason, and since I'm a fairly optimistic person, I was hoping for a World Series title. It didn't happen, obviously, but watch out world...this is the year!!!<br />
<br />
And what does all this have to do with knitting? Early this year, I decided to make a Cubs sweater. I had loved the idea of the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crackerjack">Crackerjack</a> pattern since I first saw it. But I thought, what if I brought that concept to a sweater? I picked out a pattern I've had in my queue for a few years, <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/madigan">Madigan</a>. In March, I bought some <a href="http://www.quinceandco.com/">Quince and Co.</a> Lark in Cubs-inspired colors. I was planning on casting on on opening day, but I didn't start it until late August. But I've been keeping track of all the home/away wins/losses since the beginning of the season. I'm almost to September at this point. Here's a shot from the other day that I posted on Instagram...<br />

I haven't been knitting much in the last few months. I spent a lot of time reading and just doing other things I enjoy. I didn't really <i>feel</i> like knitting, and I think knitting should be fun and enjoyable whenever possible. So I took a break. And it felt great! No regrets. I didn't really miss it, and that's fine with me. I'm pretty sure knitting will always be a part of my life, but it might come and go at times. I'm okay with that. I don't want to get burned out on something I love so much.<br />
<br />
Here are a few FOs that I never got around to posting. Thanks to my little sister Anna for her photography skills!!<br />
<br />
First up, the baby blanket for my cousin who's going to be one before I know it...<br />

A pair of mitts for a friend. They were going to be a Christmas present last year, but I think I'm going to save them for this year. #procrastinator (I'd also like to blame that on bronchitis, too.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The pattern for the mitts is <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/leydon">Leydon</a> by the lovely Alicia Plummer. It's a super fun stitch pattern; I think I have some stash that wants to become a hat in it...<br />
<br />
The slouchy hat I mentioned months ago. I started it as a project to knit during the Cubs postseason to celebrate. It took me a while to finish it after they lost. :)<br />

I bought some super chunky yarn at the beginning of February. I wanted to make a cowl out of it, but I had to go through several tries. I took the biggest needles I had, which were size 19, and knit in seed stitch, but that was too thick. It was still too thick in garter stitch. So I decided to try arm knitting. It was fun! I didn't look anything up, I just transferred my knitting experience with needles to arms. I really like the way the cowl turned out too.<br />

I brought out all my yarn this week. I like to do it annually towards the beginning of the year-not usually this late. It's nice to get an idea of how much I have. I had my sister Anna take some pictures of it with her nice camera. I organized it by color this time. :)</div>

Last fall was my first semester in college (though I only took one class) and the start of a new job (two, if you count being the family chauffeur). When I had spare time, I felt more inclined to use it napping or reading and sometimes knitting, but not writing about knitting. (There was a whole lot of wasting-time-on-the-internet as well, but isn't that always the case?) Plus, I got into a car accident and came down with bronchitis in November so that really messed everything up. (Who wants to knit when you're coughing all the time and blowing your nose? Ick.)<br />
<br />
The only thing I've finished since September is a little ballerina doll. Originally, she was a rather ordinary pocket doll. I transformed her into a ballerina for a little friend of mine. She loves it, which makes me very happy. :)<br />
<br />
Before...<br />

<br />
...and after.<br />
<br />
There <i>is</i> the baby blanket I knit for my cousin, but I still haven't woven in the ends or taken pictures of it. So whether it's finished or not is under debate. Besides the fact that my now three-month-old cousin hasn't received it yet.<br />
<br />
I did start a pair of mitts a few weeks back. They are a late Christmas present for a friend of mine. The first one is done, and I had almost finished the second Friday night when I realized I'd forgotten to switch needles. I had to rip back to the beginning and I haven't picked it up since. It would take me less than a day, but I've been doing other things. Procrastinator? Nah.<br />
<br />
I have four other works-in-progress. A pair of mittens (another Christmas present), a hat, a shrug, and a shawl. I used to be a one-project-at-a-time knitter. (Some people refer to it as "monogamous", but I am not a fan of the alternative...) All the procrastination I learned in high school has now caught up to my knitting, I guess.<br />
<br />
I hope to finish at least one sweater for myself before the weather turns warm again, but, <i>ahem</i>, we'll see how that goes...Rebekah Evelynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16492919722494190261noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6515881157340299905.post-29871200018356672782015-09-19T20:10:00.000-05:002016-04-25T20:01:37.964-05:00a u t u m n<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/RebekahEvelyn/signs-of-spring-cowl">a u t u m n</a> cowl modeled by my gorgeous sister. I knit it out of some leftover Knit Picks Swish DK from a friend. It was my first time using Swish, and I loved it! Nice and squishy and soft.<br />

These are pre-blocked pictures. I ran out of time to block the cowl before I took pictures. I'm a total procrastinator.Rebekah Evelynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16492919722494190261noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6515881157340299905.post-18166642658876966662015-09-17T22:07:00.001-05:002017-12-05T15:16:01.810-06:00Change is in the AirI've decided to expand this blog to include all of my yarn and knitting adventures. I've updated my blog description and profile to reflect this. This blog is now "the ongoing saga of a slightly nerdy girl and her love for all things yarn and knitwear". So you'll be seeing more of my non-designing knitting projects, random posts about pretty yarn I've acquired (or want to acquire, I suppose), and other thoughts on knitting. I'm excited about this change! It will be nice to have all of my knitting thoughts in the same place, and hopefully, it will make this blog more enjoyable to read!<br />
<br />
I have quite a few non-designing projects going on right now, but I don't have any good pictures of them to share. It's the time of year where I really start to think about knitting sweaters and all those lovely cold weather accessories. I knit a lot of those in the summer too, but the cool weather and the promise of autumn makes me think about them even more.<br />
<br />
Right now, I'm working on a shrug in a many-hued hand-dyed cotton/silk yarn. I started it back in May and planned on wearing it at my high school graduation, but it's still not done. :) Also on the needles is a striped blanket for a baby cousin of mine that is due in October. I have a few projects that have been sitting around for quite a while as well. One is a cabled shawl I started last September that I haven't touched since and a swatch for a textured tunic-my first true sweater! All of the other garments I've made for myself are sleeveless or short-sleeved. I'm hoping that this season will be the season of sweaters for me. I have several sweater quantities in my stash and patterns picked out for them, so all I need to do is cast on! Makes me happy just thinking about it!<br />
<br />
Well, that's about it for now. Next time, I hope to have a few pictures of a cowl I finished last week. I need to weave in the ends and block it before Sunday...Rebekah Evelynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16492919722494190261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6515881157340299905.post-19823212144414408572015-03-07T16:43:00.001-06:002017-12-05T15:33:20.138-06:00An Interview of Me<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/sarah-gomez">Sarah Gomez</a>, a 14 year old designer (who's been published in Interweave Press magazines!), sent me an email earlier this week asking if she could interview me on her blog. Of course I said yes, because I love doing interviews! I always enjoy reading other people's answers to my interview questions, but figuring out (and sometimes finding out!) your own answers can often be just as interesting.<br />

Hat's in testing right now...how can I wait several weeks to release this?!?!Rebekah Evelynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16492919722494190261noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6515881157340299905.post-43540341471872737892015-01-21T00:08:00.001-06:002015-01-21T00:08:58.183-06:00Hello 2015!It's a new year, which means new designs, but not quite yet. I can't wait to bring to life all of the wonderful ideas in my head. If only I could knit and design <i>all the time</i>.<br />
<br />
I finished winding up yarn today for a design that I'll show more of in the coming weeks. For now, you can admire the loveliness of Elena's <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/ColourAdventures">Colour Adventures</a> yarn:<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Unfortunately, I can't quite capture the beauty of this color. I'll keep trying, I promise. This will be paired with a subtle light gray for a colorwork project. That's all I'll say for now.</td></tr>

And I see that I failed to mention one of my interviews for the GAL, by <a href="http://zencrochet.blogspot.com/2014/11/independent-designer-gift-long-2014.html">Akua Lezli Hope</a>. I probably spent an hour writing up my answers, but I had a great time doing it. I really had to ponder some of the questions.Rebekah Evelynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16492919722494190261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6515881157340299905.post-31730988275873313212014-12-01T12:58:00.000-06:002014-12-01T12:58:00.112-06:00Interview with Denise Voie de Vie<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
<b>Introduce Yourself!</b></div>
Hi, I’m <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/denise-voie-de-vie">Denise</a> and I’m the creative force behind Voie de Vie, where design + craft = an artful way of life (at least for me). I design in crochet (mostly) as well as knit, and I dabble in painting and mixed media art whenever I get the opportunity. I also write a lot, mostly on my blog at <a href="http://voiedevie.blogspot.com/">http://voiedevie.blogspot.com</a> and also the Tweety thingy @DeniseVoiedeVie.<br />
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<b>How would you describe your style?</b><br />
My style is an eclectic mix of updated classics with touches of bohemia and romance. (I did say it was eclectic.)<br />
<br />
<b>What inspires you?</b><br />
Many things: music, myth, literature, flowers, cars (preferably vintage), art, color, color, color. Oh, and did I mention color?<br />
<br />
<b>What is your favorite item to design?</b><br />
Boy, that’s difficult to answer because I enjoy designing whatever it is I’m designing at any given moment. I expect my favorite item is the next one I haven’t yet thought of.<br />
<br />
<b>What is your favorite aspect of designing?</b><br />
Definitely realizing the concept. I love everything about seeing an idea take shape – and of course, the ability to play with wonderful fiber is an added bonus.<br />
<br />
<b>Is there a design of yours that you are particularly proud of?</b><br />
They are all my children; how to choose just one? (smile)<br />
<br />
<b>Describe your experience participating in the Gift-A-Long.</b><br />
I am absolutely enjoying myself! I missed it last year, so I’m savoring it like an excellent bottle of wine (preferably of the bubbly kind). I loved helping put the Pinterest boards together; I’m super excited about the shawl patterns I purchased. Most importantly, I’m enjoying seeing how crafters are putting patterns and yarns together, and I’m meeting and getting to know new-to-me designers.<br />
<br />
<b>What is your favorite part of it?</b><br />
Other than the above? (smile)<br />
<br />
<b>Were there any specific patterns that did really well in the GAL that you didn’t expect?</b><br />
Hmmm … of mine? Well, that’s a difficult question to answer, since the GAL is ongoing, and though some of my jewelry and cowls are being made, I’ve had good sales of those designs plus shawls, scarves and sweaters that haven’t made it to the GAL boards.<br />
<br />
<b>Any new projects you would like to share with us?</b><br />
Well, I have a book slated to be published at the end of the year: Leather, Lace, Grit & Grace (<a href="http://leatherlacegritgrace.blogspot.com/">http://leatherlacegritgrace.blogspot.com</a>), the designs in which are inspired by the early women of flight. I am fairly jumping out of my skin with excitement and fear and anticipation.Rebekah Evelynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16492919722494190261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6515881157340299905.post-72335452634177347082014-11-28T15:06:00.000-06:002014-11-28T15:06:00.127-06:00Interview with Julia Trice<div>
Julia is one of my favorite designers, and not only because she creates lovely patterns. I can't count how many times I have been encouraged by her posts on Ravelry. She always has such a positive spirit, and it shines through!<br />

<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
Introduce Yourself! </b><br />
Hi! I’m <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/julia-trice">Julia Trice</a>, also known as mind of winter, which is the name of my design line. I’ve been knitting since the age of six (so 37 years!) and crocheting since 2006. I design knitting patterns for the most part, but I have also dabbled in crochet design lately.<br />
<br />
<b>How would you describe your style? </b><br />
Organic, classic, natural. I like to play with texture and proportion. Almost everything I design can be dressed up, but it is a pre-requisite that it can be worn with jeans.<br />
<br />
<b>What inspires you? </b><br />
Yarn and stitch patterns are where I draw my design inspiration. I work predominantly with independent yarn producers who create beautiful, unique yarns in wonderful colors. My first goal is always to determine how to best showcase my materials. I also love stitch dictionaries and I swatch constantly. If the yarn I swatch with doesn’t make the stitch pattern shine, I file it away to try again later with another yarn.<br />
<br />
<b>What is your favorite item to design? </b><br />
Sweaters.<br />
<br />
<b>What is your favorite aspect of designing? </b><br />
Seeing it all come together. It generally occurs at midnight or later. I love the knitting, photography and layout the best when it comes to ranking specific tasks. Spreadsheets and schematics are lower on the list.<br />
<br />
<b>Is there a design of yours that you are particularly proud of?</b> <br />
Only one, huh? Well, I have a lot of favorites, but I think the thing I am most proud of this year is going out on a limb and publishing <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/etheria">Etheria</a>, a crochet infinity cowl. I made it for fun, literally auditioning stitches as I went. I had never published a crochet pattern before, and I had serious reservations about doing so. Charting for crochet is difficult and has a steep learning curve, and the market for crochet is more limited. Plus, my customers are knitters. But I loved how the pattern turned out so I took a chance and published it anyway. It has ended up being the most popular of my patterns this year.<br />
<br />
<b>What is your favorite part of the GAL? </b><br />
The people. Hands down.<br />
<br />
<b>Were there any specific patterns that did really well in the GAL that you didn’t expect? </b><br />
My <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/chalice-cowl-2">Chalice Cowl</a> sold very well last year, so I didn’t think it would sell as well this time around, but it definitely has.<br />
<br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Hi! I'm Jenn from </span><a href="http://midnightskyfibers.com/" style="font-family: inherit;">Midnightsky Fibers</a><span style="font-family: inherit;">. My current obsession is knitting hats- several hundred hats later, and I am still not bored. </span></div>

<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>How would you describe your style?</b> </span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Laidback pacific northwest. I like neutral colors with bright pops, and simple silhouettes. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>What inspires you? </b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Lately I have been having a lot of fun recycling yarn from cashmere sweaters. It's fun to unravel these sweaters and turn them into something new. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>What is your favorite item to design? </b></span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Hats! Can't stop knitting them, so I have been designing hat patterns lately. I like patterns that work well as travel patterns since I like to stick my knitting in my bag.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>What is your favorite aspect of designing? </b></span></div>
