Design Duldrums

Since I've been working on Christmas presents since August I haven't been working on designing at all.

I planned to submit to a couple publications earlier this month, but life got in the way and it didn't happen.

Maybe sometime in January I'll get back on board the designing ship and hope the winds of inspiration start blowing my ship back on course. I just wanted to update, in case anyone was wondering. :)

My Tulip Submission

Today my little sister handed me a package from Knitscene, the magazine publication that I had submitted to in late April. They had sent my swatch back along with a nice note that basically said that they didn't pick my design. But this way, you can see it sooner:
I was going to use this pattern for fingerless gloves.
I was expecting to be rejected, but if I never try, I will never be in print, so I'm happy I submitted. I may self-publish the pattern sometime anyway, like I've done my other patterns so far.

Testers

I'm so excited! After saying a few days ago that I didn't have any testers, I got two today! Hopefully they will finish soon and I can re-publish it.

'Photo Shoot' Success

I did my photo shoot for the Strawberry Patch Handwarmers on Thursday. I made a deal with my little sister that if she would model the handwarmers she could have them. I think it was a great deal, and she may have got shortchanged because I realized she was a great model. :) Here are a few of my favorites:
She did this all by herself. I was so happy!
I love the seriousness; but yet a hint of a smile.

My First Submission and Pattern-in-Testing

I submitted my first submission to a fairly well-known knitting magazine recently. I don't expect to be accepted, but it definitely marks a high point in my career. :) I feel like a real designer now!

Right now I am working on the testing of the revision for my Strawberry Patch Handwarmers. I felt soooo bad when I found the mistakes, and I almost felt like I had failed as a designer. But everybody makes mistakes, and I feel a lot better than I did at first. :) Besides, I took the opportunity to add some new sizes! So I can't wait to get that finished, but I am having a little bit of trouble finding testers. :(

Hi!

I am a 14 year old designer who just recently started publishing designs, and I started this blog as a way to tell others about my designs and where I am as a designer. I am very excited to share this journey!
