I'm working on a new design!!!!!!!!!
I'm very excited about this one; Dream in Color partnered with me this time. Thank you guys so much! I'm using their Perfectly Posh Sport in Fortune, which is very lovely to knit and to look at:
Not the best picture, I know. Speaking of which, I am very happy to announce that I am not going to be the photographer this time. Yep! For this pattern, I have the help of someone who actually knows something more than average about photography, has a nice camera, and takes beautiful pictures. YAY!!!!!
I also sent a submission off into the wild this week...
And I just want to say to all who read this, whether you're family, friend, or friendly-nice-person, thank you for supporting me by following along!
the ongoing saga of a slightly nerdy girl and her love for all things yarn and knitwear

News
Since my last post, my Braided Possibilities pattern promotion has ended. Overall, it garnered 896 downloads, 91 favorites and 28 queues (so far). Plus, it got in the Top Ten!
I submitted two designs to calls from Knit Picks, which were both rejected, and sent two designs off to a magazine, which I don't expect to hear back from for a while. I submitted my Tulips design to Knit Picks IDP a couple weeks ago, which I have not heard back from yet either. Yesterday I submitted a design to a yarn company's call, and I hope to submit another one to the same company today. Besides all that, I have knit up a few swatches for another pattern for the IDP that I will submit once I find out if I have time to conjure that up. :)
So, I've been pretty design-busy, including sketching and saving all the wonderful ideas that pop into my head at all hours of the day.

Success!
I am very happy at the success of my Braided Possibilities pattern! 130 downloads, lots of faves, some queues, but the BEST thing is that it's made the top 50 in Ravelry's Hot Right Now!!!!!
I submitted two things yesterday to a yarn company, and today I started on three designs that I'm going to submit to a magazine. I am feeling very designer-ish and excited!!!

My Tulip Submission
Today my little sister handed me a package from Knitscene, the magazine publication that I had submitted to
in late April. They had sent my swatch back along with a nice note that
basically said that they didn't pick my design. But this way, you can
see it sooner:
I was expecting to be rejected, but if I never try, I will never be in
print, so I'm happy I submitted. I may self-publish the pattern sometime
anyway, like I've done my other patterns so far.
I was going to use this pattern for fingerless gloves. |

My First Submission and Pattern-in-Testing
I submitted my first submission to a fairly well-known knitting magazine recently. I don't expect to be accepted, but it definitely marks a high point in my career. :) I feel like a real designer now!
Right now I am working on the testing of the revision for my Strawberry Patch Handwarmers. I felt soooo bad when I found the mistakes, and I almost felt like I had failed as a designer. But everybody makes mistakes, and I feel a lot better than I did at first. :) Besides, I took the opportunity to add some new sizes! So I can't wait to get that finished, but I am having a little bit of trouble finding testers. :(
